The winners in all three races received more than 55% of the vote. Republicans have held a majority on the seven-member Ohio Supreme Court since 1986. In the past two election cycles, a new law required party labels for candidates for supreme court and appellate courts. Republicans swept the supreme court races in 2022 and this year.

Republicans won control of the Senate in Tuesday’s elections, gaining seats in West Virginia and Ohio. Other tight races remained too close to call in both the House and the Senate, as Democrats were hoping to win a House majority as voters across the nation cast ballots.

Republican Bernie Moreno is projected to win the Ohio race against incumbent Sherrod Brown, a victory that likely will give Republicans control in the Senate. As of 11:30 p.m. Eastern, Moreno led with 50.
