The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory at 2:30 a.m. EST on Saturday in effect until 10 a.m. EST for Keweenaw and Houghton counties.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is advising up to 200 million people across the U.S. to not travel unless they absolutely have to leave their homes, following a round of winter storm warnings issued for more than 30 states for Friday,

On Friday at 4:27 p.m. an updated special weather statement was issued by the National Weather Service until Saturday at 12:30 a.m. for Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and Foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon.

Over the weekend, a powerful winter storm is set to impact more than 130 million people across the United States as heavy winter precipitation, strong winds, and bitterly cold temperatures move in, bringing dangerous conditions.

The National Weather Service issued the watch Wednesday afternoon for a the storm that’s expected to arrive this weekend, according to NWS Meteorologist Joe Curtis. “There’s increasing potential for a significant winter storm this weekend,” Curtis told MetroNews. The watch is for Saturday morning through Monday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for several states as serious weather conditions are expected to hit parts of the United States on Friday and into the weekend, bringing potentially “dangerous” conditions.

At 2:02 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 11 p.m. for Central Oregon.

Significant changes could occur in the next day or two. It's a complicated forecast, the National Weather Service says.

On Friday at 1:05 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated cold weather advisory valid from 10 p.m. until Saturday noon for Passaic and Bergen counties.
