Noem Says Hundreds More Agents Will Be Sent To Minneapolis To Support ICE After Fatal Shooting
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem vowed on Sunday to send “hundreds more” federal agents to Minneapolis as thousands continue to protest the fatal shooting of a woman by an immigration officer last week.
Protesters screamed at armed federal agents in attempts to disrupt their operations in one Minneapolis neighborhood on Sunday. They later took one man away in handcuffs.
Noem said that more agents will arrive in the Twin Cities metro Sunday and Monday to help officers already there continue to do their work "safely."
The Minneapolis community is honoring Renee Good with a memorial near 33rd Street and Portland Avenue. The fatal shooting of Good by ICE agents on Jan. 7 has sparked national outcry and protests around the country.
Protesters gathered in Minneapolis on Sunday to show support for Iran, as the government there deals with the collapse of currency. The Minnesota Committee in support of a Democratic Iran says this year's protests are the largest since 2022.
