Sometimes you have to play the hand you're dealt. Half a decade after Channing Tatum's standalone Gambit movie was officially canceled, the X-Men hero sprung back onto the scene as part of Deadpool and Wolverine and its Void's worth of fan favorite surprises and cameos. Now, star Ryan Reynolds says Marvel Studios is "obsessed" with Gambit.

Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order will recall how a leak of Deadpool test footage helped to get the first movie produced. During a conversation with EW, Reynolds found a connection between that infamous leak and Tatum's surprise Gambit appearance in Deadpool 3. In his words:

Reynolds recalled that the leaked Deadpool test footage in 2014 helped prove fan demand and ultimately green-lit the film. Similarly, he hopes Deadpool & Wolverine could be the proof Marvel needs to consider bringing back the 44-year-old as the Cajun mutant in another film.
