A New Hampshire man who was a police officer at a Massachusetts college was killed in a crash on I-95 in Newbury, Massachusetts, police said.

Endicott College police Sgt. Jeremy Cole, while driving home from his shift at the campus, was killed after his Chevrolet Trailblazer was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver on I-95 northbound in Newbury, according to Endicott College Chief of Police Kerry Ramsdell.

Jeremy Cole’s death, which occurred on the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday, ignited an outpouring of sympathy and support from the Endicott College community and police departments around New England.
