Throughout the training, trainees learned everything from penal codes to pursuit driving to the use of force. The Joint Field Training Exercise includes dozens of scenarios they could encounter in the field.

The Department of Public Safety will graduate 130 new troopers this month. We rode along as they completed their final exercises.

Texas Department of Public Safety Class B-2024 held their Joint Field Training Exercise at the DPS Training Academy. This marks the end of a rigorous 30-week training program.

DPS troopers will graduate this month, and KXAN's Ryan Chandler rode along with the recruits as they completed intense training exercises involving high-speed chases, shooter drills, and human trafficking intervention.
