Legendary rock band may do folk music on new album: ‘Crazy’
U2 hasn’t released any new songs since 2017′s “Songs of Experience,” though they did record new versions of classic hits for 2023′s “Songs of Surrender.” An expanded “Re-Assemble Edition” of 2004′s “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” (featuring the hit single “Vertigo”) was released last week with previously unreleased work from that time period.

The Edge has revealed U2 are recording “sci-fi Irish folk music” with Brian Eno. The Edge made an appearance on BBC Radio 2 on Monday to mark the 20th anniversary of the hit 2004 album, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.

Lately U2 have been celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2004 album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb with a reissue and an entire alternate LP. But the band is not totally fixated on the rearview.

Apparently U2 are working on new music. In an interview with Jo Whiley last night on Radio 2 no less an authority than The Edge confirmed that the band and Brian Eno are busy on what he described as “crazy sci fi Irish folk music”.

They are working on “some crazy kind of sci-fi Irish folk music,” which may or may not be on the band's next album. He added that they are working with Eno on the project, who has previously worked with the band on several occasions.
