WEBNov 30, 2013 · Square Dude, I agree with you that the small round baler can be used by a small, lighter weight CUT due, in part, to a minimal amount of pounding generated by the small round baler. The small square baler (generally produces a 14 in x 18 in x 40 in bale weighing - 45 to 60 lbs) has a plunger/knife that cuts and compresses the hay.

Might have to add some weight up front, but you'd have the lifting power for a half-ton bale. We used a D14 Allis-Chalmers (38HP) to move round bales with a trip bucket FEL.

I'm running into a rather substantially anoying problem with this baler. twic yesterday and now 3 times in 3 bales today the area where the teeth feed back the windrow into the roller is becoming jammed up with hay.
