WEBJul 21, 2008 · What are your average small square bale weights? I am used to a bale weighing somewhere around 40 lb. I just bought a load of second cutting alfalfa. Really really nice stuff but the bales were insanely heavy. About 80 lb. My Dad even had a hard time handling them and he is a really strong guy.

If you are a grain for kids, grain for dry does, grain for treats, grain for unused bucks kind of person, you need hay or roughage in another forum that pellets. Vicki. Vicki McGaugh. WEBJan 4, 2008 · My son went over to get some hay the other day and the man said he was goin up to $7.00 a bale (same hay we've been buying for 5.00) :sniffle Guess we'll be going back to the other man. Alafalfa is $12 - $14 a bale, and I'm not impressed with it and don't buy it. I'm originally from So. Calif and we had good Alfalfa there, this is not good alfalfa.

WEBJul 17, 2012 · No one bales straw around here. What little bit that is baled is 300 miles north in "The County" and used up there for sled dog bedding in the winter. We get our hay from Canada or shipped from the midwest, hence the $10.00 for a 40 pound bale. Most of the grass hay I get around here is cheaper than the straw, but the quality isn't very good ...

WEBAug 21, 2012 · Feed enough so that 1/2 hour before feeding time the feeder is either empty or just a smidgen of hay left. Keep reducing the hay fed until you reach that point. Now figure out how quickly you go through a bale of hay and mathematically figure that much for two weeks - add 10% for each successive 2 weeks (they eat more as they grow) and so on.

WEBJul 30, 2012 · Putting weight back on a sick goat. I have a doe that is (hopefully) recovering from ruminitis and a 8000epg worm count. We are not out of the woods with her yet but if she pulls thru we need a plan to help her put weight back on. She has lost major weight and is basically skin and bones.
